Only works on iPhone not iPad
I have used the iControl App for many years and loved it. This “new” app is a step backwards in so many ways. Like.... when trying to change the volume on my VSX-LX304 Elite receiver, using the iPad app on a brand new iPad runnin iOS 13.3, the Pioneer app simply hangs. Come on engineers? I can see having your stuff not be tested on four or six year old iPads running old iOS versions, but not having your app work with the latest hardware and software is pretty lame. On my iPad app, I Can’t pull up the volume, can’t change sources, nothing works when trying to get to the buried layer required to change the volume. I have to shut down the app and grab my iPhone. Speaking of volume, hey Pioneer team, how about making the volume available on the main app screen and not making us have to go two levels deep to use THE most used feature of any AV Receiver app??

Used to be so much better
I recent purchased a SC-LX704 pioneer AV Receiver, after my 10 year old one died. Expensive, but I liked the amp and it would be easy to swap into my system since it had all the same inputs and outputs.
The bad news was that Onkyo purchased the Pioneer home electronics line, so now it is built by Onkyo. They removed several wonderful software features in the receiver, and also replaced the Pioneer App with this one, which is a two or three steps down from the previous Pioneer (made) App. This isn’t hard Onkyo, step up!

Works Alright
Doing searches are a little cumbersome and there some things that could be improved but my evaluation on the app is it does what i need it to do. All i do is open the app to turn on the receiver and pick Pandora and Tidal to stream and it does that perfectly. Another thing I don’t like is on Tidal when i add tracks it keeps them in order from date, but in the pioneer remote app it automatically sorts it by alphabetical order which completely messes up the order i like to listen to my tracks but besides that and the search it does what i need it to good enough to get 5 stars but that’s because im a nice person :-)

App works good on Phone...not on IPad???
I have had this app for several years and use it to remotely control my VSX-1131. Worked perfectly on both my Iphone 10 and my IPad Pro 11. Then it stopped working a month or so ago on my IPad but not my phone. My iPhone version works fine. Both IPhone and IPad are running the latest version of IOS...11.1.3.
The receiver will not respond to touches on my Ipad. For example, if I press NET in an attempt to play Pandora, nothing happens. If I press Power, nothing happens. The receiver is seemingly dead to touches on my IPad but not my phone. Ipad works fine in every other app.

Great app!
This is the first time I write a review for an app. This app is totally worth talking about. There is so much u can do. Audioholics are gonna love this app. The amount of custom eq u can do on everything is amazing. Each input can me eq differently for multiple uses like home theater or music u name it i love this app. Pioneer really out did themselves. The only thing i will change is being able to chose different logos for the different inputs other than that I wouldn’t change a thing. 👌🏾great app

EQ settings do not save
I noticed other comments regarding this same phenomenon. I use the APP to save the EQ settings they way I like them. Then, the next time (and every time) I turn the receiver on, the EQ settings are flatlined and I have to open the APP and re-load them. This is very annoying. Apparently this is not fixable or the developers would have corrected it by now. Other than that, the app is OKAY. Controlling Pandora from the APP is hit or miss. Sometimes it links up ok and works, sometimes it does not. Please fix the EQ problem, we are paying customers! Thank you.

When I enter the IP of my VSX-LX503 receiver into my browser, it takes me to the browser-accessible setting page like expected. However, entering the same IP address into the app leads to an immediate error response.
As usual in Pioneer apps, the error is completely unhelpful message titled “Cannot connect network device” with “Please check power and network connection” in the details.
If you search around to try to fix this, you’ll find that there isn’t really any details on how the app works. What port does it use? Which protocol? etc. So, even troubleshooting this will basically requiring reverse engineering their application.

App crashes when opening
Have had the app for about 6 months until recently it worked fine but this last week I tried turning off iPhone and rebooting nothing deleted app restart numerous times nothing looked on line nothing about the problem I finally looked a some reviews and saw some one was saying Sonos was the problem went and unplugged my Sonos and app worked fine the manufacturer needs to fix the problem.

Works with Tidal
The thing I like the most about this app is the Tidal integration. When you use the app you actually get the full FLAC 48kHz/24bit. You don’t get that when you use your phone and the regular Tidal app. They just pretend to stream the master quality, but via BT or Chromecast you will actually not listen to FLAC quality.
The Tidal user interface could be prettier, but that’s likely a nuisance caused by Tidal.

A good controller that doesn’t show up on home screens
It’s great for the simple fact that it gives you an extra equalizer for all bands on top of the custom one. Really useful for a quick EQ if needed.
But for some reason it doesn’t show in any of my home screens even though the option is selected, and deselecting it and reselecting doesn’t change that.
