Chillybrew,
Miniature Tactics
I am really enjoying this game and it is well worth a try. The reason for the 3 stars is the lack of transparency and/or bugs within the game. My very first game I made it to the final board where 2 of my figures somehow occupied the same spot on the board and the game eventually locked up. Now that I’ve been playing awhile, I see discrepancies often. The computer often deals more damage than their indicated attack. Is this a bug or do they do double damage in certain situations? My attack bonus’s go away or are reduced. How about some sort of explanation in the game for these anomalies or maybe it’s some bugs need fixing.

Edit: After playing some more, I felt the need to add a star. The gameplay just hits a sweet spot for mobile. It is quick and addictive with a fantastic aesthetic. After buying one of the better players to start, I was able to finish a run. The computer occasionally still does more attack then indicated by their attack number which is frustrating and I still feel is a bug (I’ve seen the computer do 5 damage several times when his attack is 3. Once when no one else was on the board). I’ve also learned that my attack bonus only lasts one hit and that area damage is reduced 1 per square. Again this could have be explained somewhere Still very much enjoying the game and keep coming back for a quick run.
Mgddpub,
There's such a thing as too minimalist.
Needs better explanations of attack ranges and abilities. In one case range 2 seems to me move 2 and in another, you attack two units in a line. If you don't explain on card, have a reference page somewhere. You also can't tap and hold to see ability of a character that already acted that turn which makes it difficult to plan. After a few games I still don't know why I lost on 2nd turn when a zombie I spawned the turn before got killed. What is win condition and where is that explained? No explanation at all as to what appears to be a unit purchase screen. Buttons aren't labeled so you don't know what they do. I get minimalism, and I love it, but this game sacrifices serious function for little gain in form. Get over this fetish for lack of text and make the dashboard thing more user friendly and intelligible.
PatriotUSA,
Nice game
Great game. I like that it is not a pay-to-win CCG like most of the other card/board hybrid games nowadays. In-depth strategy while still a quick, fun play. Biggest flaw is the AI is not very strong. I have seen on multiple games the AI miss game-winning moves. Sometimes it does not seem to recognize that it can kill your "king" and so it just does another attack move instead. I feel like this should be able to be fixed. Minor flaws include a lack of instructions as others have mentioned. While the game can be figured out fairly quickly, why not include a tutorial or instructions? Also, I'm still fuzzy on why sometimes my attacks do less damage than I think they should. Others have mentioned RNG but I’ve played several dozen games at this point and while, yes, sometimes, you get a bad hand I don’t find I lose games to bad luck that often. (It does happen.) Normally I can retreat and play defensively until the card draws turn to my favor.
hkspearo,
This game is a surprising treat!
Wow, talk about more than meets the eye! I wasn’t expecting much but the gameplay is surprisingly deep and very addictive. If you don’t watch the clock, you can spend 3 hours playing it and not realize how much time has gone by (guilty as charged). The gameplay is very easy to pick up with a nice learning curve, but the challenge becomes very difficult in the later levels (I still can’t get past level 6. I docked the rating by 1 star because, as some other reviewers have mentioned, it becomes unfair how the CPU player gets more cards than you at higher levels and you have to restart the game ladder at the bottom every time you lose. A couple other revisions that would be nice is multiplayer (local and on-line) and for the enemy team’s leader to have a unique colored base (instead of red as all of the other enemy bases).
T-TownChamp,
Decent game but horribly unbalanced
This game heavily favors RNG mechanics over skill based gameplay. You can be given cards to start the match that make no sense at all and no matter how much skill you have the opponent AI is dealt a much more powerful deck. Some cards don’t make sense at all either. For example some cards in the game have a range of 3 (can hit you from the complete other side of the board) and can move before attacking, yet the catapult is unable to be moved but only has a range of 2. Some of the heroes you must defeat in the game, unless I am doing something vey wrong, are unable to be beaten. The one that comes to mind is an archer with a range of 3 that ends the game in two turns because he can move before attacking. So in theory this hero can shadow you and shoot your hero no matter what you do. This game could be great if some simple balancing issues were fixed. However as it stands this game feels incomplete and mediocre.
Math Student 465,
Great game
The game is great, but there is not a tutorial (though frankly it doesn’t need one, it’s pretty simple to figure out) so bear that in mind. But that said, it’s fun, easy, and addicting. As you start, your monarch tokens are set on the board on square bases, every other unit is on a circle base, the goal is to take out your opponents monarch. Yeah, the AI does often get a “better hand” in the later levels, but, if you’ve managed to figure things out well enough, it’s not much of a problem, and 90% of the time, the AI will only place two cards per turn. Coins are a little tedious to collect, you get them by winning levels, the amount depends on what the opposing monarch was and what level it was I think, and that’s about it. All in all, I think it’s a great game.
Nutella Kid,
Don’t let reviews stop you from trying this game
First and foremost, I have been playing this for 3 days and it is a great game. The art work is fantastic, the "learn as you play" game style is refreshingly different, and the "beat it all in one go or start over" adds a challengingly element that most games don’t have anymore. It’s phenomenal. So don’t let other people who are complaining about no instructions and saying getting coins to buy characters is hard, cause it’s not.

The only reason I gave this game 4 stars and not 5 is because it needs more levels and a multiplayer element. Also it would be nice to have more cards and more characters.

(The random card drawing when your playing and the cards you choose to appear more frequent when you when each level is a great touch!)
angry_vegetarian,
Great game!
The visuals of this game really drew me to it. However the reviews made me a bit more cautious and made me hold off on purchasing it. I was mainly worried about how people were saying it’s all random/luck when it comes to winning. After playing this game for over a month now I can say it isn’t random or luck at all.

Yes, there are no instructions on anything. You learn as you play - and that isn’t a bad thing. Once you get a good feeling for the game and gain knowledge on what each pawn does the game is a lot more fun and easier to play. I gained enough coins to unlock every character in a matter of about a week of very casual playing.

I have to say, once I unlocked and found the character piece that worked for me and got a better grasp of the game I beat MIYAMOTO 9/10 times. Just remember to keep in mind how other pawns can be used against you. Sometimes the AI makes really stupid choices while other times they make moves I didn’t even anticipate.

I look forward to more updates - hopefully some new pieces will be introduced to unlock.
ZCurtis95,
Absolutely stunning game!
It’s visual aesthetic, learn-as-you-go style, and minimal but complex strategy keep you motivated to get better and learn how to use each card to its maximum capacity. I have played for at least a month and have finally unlocked all the characters. I’ve defeated Miyamoto with everyone (except Hanzo). I will continue playing the game for awhile but see myself getting bored if there will not going to be significant updates.

I wouldn’t mind seeing any of the below:
-Broader range of playable characters and more cards
-New boards (built in obstacles, hazard spaces, larger sizes, different shapes, ect.)
-More difficult bosses or harder mode (the game is already difficult but I’d love to see bosses with even more health).
-More expansive store and currency system (I have a decent amount of coins now that I’ve gotten all the characters)
-Allowing for game music to be muted and personal music to be played

If those updates don’t appear, I just wanted to say thanks for a really intelligent and quality game! It’ll be on my phone for a long time to come.
Wickedcor,
It needs work.
The interface is bad. Swiping does more than it should when I can just tap. With all the swiping used in the new iPhones XS and XR, there needs to be less in the app. There’s no option to turn the music off when I want to listen to my own music. There’s no real instruction. Although the game is simple and straight forward, I don’t know what I’m doing. When a match ends after I win, it asks me to select a card. Am I gaining or losing that card? I literally don’t know. I can’t see my deck or even the cards contained within. It also feels like the AI cheats a little. I wouldn’t know because I can’t see how many cards they have in their hand. The game is nice and I love the graphics. RNG is a little tough to play with and strategize through. It just needs work.
