Great app, wish it had better progress
Love this app. Truly great practice. I only wish the statistics showed more of what you accomplished. For instance, I started with C3-E3 and practiced until I got:
- three scores of 43 points minimum @ 100% using the piano keys (natural)
- two scores of the same using the note names (natural)
- two more of the same with note names (sharps/flats)
- three more of the same using piano keys (sharps/flats)
This was good for my daily practice
Then I added another note (F3) and did the same thing the next day. By the time I was at A4 I raised my minimum score to 50 points, and I was “leveling up” about twice a day from then on.
I wish this app would show that sort of progress. All it shows is a confusing graph with too many data points. I have no idea what I did on any particular day based on the stats. It would be nice if this allowed me to see that as well as awarding me accomplishments when I master a new note in all variants.
Thank you for the hard work you did on this app. Even without listening to my suggestion this app is still extremely useful.

This app does wonders for my students!
It took me a long time to find an app for learning notes/flash cards and there are no apps that compare - This is a great app that is perfect for teaching students to read music notation quickly. I really like how easy it is to set it up for what level they are at. I have a few things that I would love to see happen because I think it would make the learning experience better, even though this app is completely functional already!!
1. I would love to see an option to make it a grand Staff where both treble and bass clef are shown the whole time when a note pops up.
2. I think making it so that it doesn’t change notes so quickly when they click on one. This would be so that they can see what note they pressed and if it was right or wrong. If it was wrong, they can compare it to the one they did hit and then maybe click continue when they are ready. (Right now they have no time to see what note was wrong until the end and I think it would be beneficial to learn better.)

Amazing way to learn notes for starters and advanced
This is an amazing app for kids and adults who would like to learn notes. In options you can always change how far your note range is and what clefs you would like. I also like that you don’t have to do treble bass and alto clefs at different times you could choose to do some at the same time. A great thing that they added sound light effects and flats and sharps. For example you could choose not to have sound but if you do it makes the sound of the note and flashes green quickly if you get it right. If you press it incorrect it will flash red quickly and make sort of an errrrr sound. You could also have the choice of flats and sharps if you would like to. Another major thing is that you get scored by accuracy, points, and how many notes you got correct and a chart of your points for that round. When you finish a round and you get something incorrect it will show you a view mistakes button so you could see what you did wrong and get the right answer next time. The last thing is that you could choose fore how long you would like to practice, you would get a choice of one minute, five minutes, ten minutes or infinity. This app for practice is great. Enjoy!

In spite of other reviews
I cannot give this app a good rating. It does not give you a grand staff option so notes are often falling on little lines drawn above or below and it just doesn’t give you a look that you will typically see when you play music. When you press a note, it makes the sound of the next note it would like you to press. This is just horrible for ear training and I’m flabbergasted that they have not fixed this and/or there is not a big outcry from app users. You can remedy this by muting the sound on the app and running a piano app in the background. Also the fact that you cannot do landscape mode is a big hindrance unless you can work through Bluetooth (not sure if that’s possible, but my keyboard cannot do it so it doesn’t matter). So your headphones and lightning adapter make it difficult to keep the iPad steady. To top it all off, it crashes nearly every time you play a round on a iPad 6. I just cannot figure out for the life of me why this gets good ratings. I bought an app that’s half the price that gets everything right except landscape mode. Avoid this. It’s overpriced, poorly implemented and underdeveloped.

Set aside time for this.
I’ve never found a more fun way to improve sight reading. If you aspire to learn music and improve your sight reading, something I was horrible at, this app, which will become a game later, will help you so much! I said it will become a game later because you will tend to feel you need to challenge your last score to see how to beat your self the last time. Mistakes you make will make you crack a smile because you will know you shouldnt have made that mistake cuz you knew better. After playing this for some time, I decided to write a review, something I dont do, because I saw how much this helped me more than anything I’ve every tried before, and I know it can help you too. Thanks to the developers, I cant thank you enough for this. Music lessons are expensive, but it seems you know well the struggle of learning and money it takes to learn. You have my eternal thanks!!!

Learning fun
This app has been great for me to practice learning treble scale as I could not read music before. It lets you know if you messed up by flashing red and after each session you can look at your mistakes to see what you did wrong to try to improve. My first day I did 15 notes a minute and got half of them wrong. Two weeks later and my last session was 151 notes with two mistakes (and one of those was my finger biting the wrong button).
Things I would like to see improved. More explanations about what things are or why to choose a certain scale or even just links to wiki If I realize I messed up before I raise my finger I would like to be able to change my answer. To be able to delete a quiz in the middle of it so it doesn’t count if I need too.
None of these things are deal breakers and I love the app.

Starting to read notes faster
I read some online article about this app and I'm impressed with the simplicity. When I was a kid, my piano teacher taught me two sayings and didn't understand until now. Watching only the spaces between the 5 main lines from bottom to top - Left hand: ACEG (all cows eat grass) then every time you go above or below the 5 lines, All Cows Eat Grass becomes the lines instead of the spaces. Right Hand: FACE. Same rule applies above and below the 5 lines, switch FACE to the lines instead of spaces. Hope this make sense! Starting to read much quicker now thanks to this app. I went from an average of 12 seconds to 6 in less than a week. Trying to read as fast as 1 second so I can play piano off of sheet music faster. Thank you for this free app!!!

Great premise, clunky interface
The premise of this app is great. In just a few short sessions I feel that I’ve made a ton of progress in learning notes on the staves. Unfortunately the interface of the app is a little clunky and leaves a lot to be desired where design / graphics are concerned. The only functional additions I would like to see implemented is an option that lets you display both the piano keys and the letters of those keys at the same time. Currently you can either guess the notes by letter OR key on the piano, but not both. The other improvement I would recommend would be since the staves cover three lines above and below the main staff, I would love to expand the keys / letters to include the entire range of octaves being quizzed. Last, I would love to have both treble and bass staves on the screen at the same time rather than switching between the two.

This app is awesome......however
This app is awesome to help you learn the notes on both the treble clef and bass clef by heart. But if you're used to the older version, this update will seem to drag a bit. For whatever reason I used to consistently get 60 or more notes correct per minute. Not able to do that with the latest app update. Just seems to drag a bit. Not a big deal if you're new to the app. You'll be able to still track your progress. But if you were improving with the older version, you'll feel like your quickness of recognizing and hitting the note is much slower. Great app for what it's built for. I'm just disappointed with the slight drag conmpared to the older version.

Best note teacher, buy the ad-free
This is the best note teaching app. I have tried many. The speed at which it’s presented is great. Has a great look. Tons of settings.
Upgrade to ad-free, it’s worth it.
To the developer, I’d heavily recommend adjusting the default range settings to more usual note ranges (treble and bass), as I know many typical iPhone users won’t have the patience to tweak settings and will be turned off by the initial settings.
Also, the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the amount of ads was insane, much more than average. It somewhat turned me off from this app initially but $2 is nothing so I bought it and a few others and this one is the best, amazing without the chokingly constant ads. I’d recommend ads for every other practice session instead of every session. The deceptively similar-UI-looking ads on the bottom were quite annoying as well. I know it’s hard to find that right balance of as many ads as possible while not turning customers away from annoyance. So maybe you’ve made the right choice, idk.
