Description

The Oticon ON App provides discreet remote control of your hearing aids, letting you adjust the volume of your hearing aids independently, switch between listening programs, keep an eye on your battery level or even help you find your hearing aids if you lose them.

The Oticon ON App also enables you to:
• Use your device as a remote microphone and get better access to the voice of another speaker in noisy environments
• Access specific programs designed to help you move your attention away from your tinnitus - if enabled by your hearing care professional during the fitting session
• Handle wireless accessories paired with your hearing aids; control multiple TV Adapters, or devices such as Oticon EduMic or ConnectClip which can be used both for streaming and as remote microphones
• Fine-tune the sound when watching a movie or streaming audio using the streaming equalizer, for a personalized listening experience. The streaming equalizer is available for all Oticon Bluetooth hearing aids except Oticon Opn and Oticon Siya.
• Set personal listening goals and follow your daily hearing aid use through HearingFitness™
• Connect to a wide variety of Internet-connected solutions through the Internet of Things

The Oticon ON App is compatible with all Oticon Bluetooth hearing aids. Depending on the hearing aids and the mobile device you are using, you may or may not have access to all features the app offers.

We recommend using the latest version of iOS.

SneadsDude,
Mute/Unmute Issue
My Oticon More Minirite R hearing aids are an improvement from my old Resound Linx2 hearing aids. Until several weeks ago, they have been working fine since I received them several months ago from the VA. Lately, then started producing what I thought were undocumented sounds. At first I thought it was a rechargeable battery issue, but I later discovered the software was muting and unmuting at unpredictable times. It is annoying. Could be the recent software update is causing it. I have an iPhone SE2 with the current IOS installed. This issue happens several times a day, usually when the batteries still have at least a 40-50% charge remaining. Hopefully, this will be resolved in the next software update. Otherwise, I may return the hearing aids.
Countrygirl2of6,
The app continues to malfunction but the hearing aids are pretty good
Although the hearing aids aren’t giving me the battery life promised, getting about 17 hours max if I do little or no streaming (rechargeable promised 21 hours regardless of streaming), and have done since brand new, that is usually not an issue but the app hangs and requires a phone reboot at least 2x a day or it won’t register the actual hours my Oticon More 1 aids are worn. Today, though I wore them 16 hours +, the app quit working again at 6.5 hours and I didn’t check it, so that’s all it shows for the day, making the app a complete waste of time. It happens every day since the last iOS update when users were promised full compatibility. Previously it happened once a month or so.

There is no reason this should be happening and the app should be at least able to access the same hearing aid data the hearing center specialist can see when they check the aids every few months. It should not make a difference if the customer is logged in to the app or not, especially once an account is connected. Read the aids or dump the app.
Gaelic Girl,
Slow but works
I would give this app 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the app doesn't stay connected to my hearing aids all the time. When I open it to control my hearing aids, it takes a long time to connect to them, even though they are already connected to my iPhone. Otherwise the app works well and is easy to use. It's the only control that lets me adjust the volume on each aid separately or to just mute them (like when I'm using a hairdryer or food processor). There are controls built into the phone and buttons on the aids themselves, but they control both together always. And the buttons on the aids require pushing multiple times to the lowest volume. So I think this app is worth keeping. Developers, please don't ruin it like other hearing aid app developers apparently have done. I studied their reviews to get a feel for what other brands might be like. I think I'll stick with Oticon for a while longer.
UnhappyMotorist,
Good, But Room For Improvement.
“Oticon On” offers a feature to track missing/lost hearing aids. That is a good feature. However, if your wearing hearing aid(s) and you walk too far from smart device that has the “Oticon On” app installed on a device (ie: phone), there is no alert in the hearing aid indicating your too far from your Bluetooth signal. This can help users prevent loss of the device.

A nice feature would be a “Loss/Reconnection Of Bluetooth” from your smart device. If you’re out of Bluetooth signal range, the hearing aid(s) would make a sound alert, signifying you’re out range from smart device. If you come back into your device’s Bluetooth range, the hearing aid(s) would make an alert that Bluetooth reconnection has been established.

Just like the hearing aid traker, “Oticon On” should allow the users to set the device tracker to On/Off.
Jacob & Rachel,
Does not work with iPad
The app works fine with my iPhone but cannot get it to work with my iPad. I have a new pair of otican real hearing aids replacing an older pair that was working fine with my iPad. None of the troubleshooting suggestions worked. Now as far as rating the hearing aids for their primary use, hearing, they are excellent. My low rating is “only” for the iPad connection issue and nothing else.

UPDATED REVIEW: problem solved

I figured out the problem a few weeks ago. I had to remove the older set of hearing aids from my iPad. Oticon also contacted me today via email with the same advice. I also preferred a tv adapter that allows me to watch via blue tooth with the tv volume turned down or off. Easy to set up.
bgeorgejr,
App not working! Now it is!!!
Last 5 months have noticed my app opens with a “Pair your hearing aid(s)” screen with instructions for pairing! They are paired with my Apple iPhone!!! Can no longer change programs or adjust volume with the app! I am using Oticon Ruby 2. Started out very pleased with all of the apps functions, including finding a lost hearing aid, but unless this is resolved, I want be able to recommend Oticon!!! Read another review and followed instructions on unpairing my hearing aids on my iPhone in the Accessibility settings and Hearing Device setting. Did that, put my hearing devices in the charger and took them out to reboot; went back to Settings on my iPhone under Accessibility and Hearing Device and repaired my hearing aids and app is connected to my hearing aids!!! Raising my review to 4-stars!
sarabeth59,
App stuck (update after developer helped)
This App was so useful until it got stuck on a “Pair your hearing aids” option which just appeared out of nowhere when I opened the App one day. My hearing aids were already paired but the message would not go away even after I deleted the App twice & unpaired & re-paired my hearing aids to Bluetooth (again, twice). Frustrating. Wish there were a fix for the problem.

REVIEW UPDATE: the developer reached out to me right away about my issue and provided me with additional instructions on how to resolve my pairing problem (unpair & re-pair all devices my hearing aids were paired to). This worked!! and I’m once again successfully using the Oticon App regularly. THANK YOU!
Angelo DeF,
On or Companion?
I wish with the explanation for the use of this app It would tell you the difference between the On and the Companion app. I keep getting notifications to install the new version and when I hit it, it just goes to the download and says open without an explanation as to where the revised app is or what the latest version is. In neither explanation does it tell you the difference or which one you should be using. I can’t seem to tell the difference between the two, but it does tell you that having more than one app on your phone gives you problems with connectivity. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two apps and which one I should be using?
GoodKram,
Apple Watch, volume adjustment too sensitive
Having access to this app on my Apple Watch (series 7) is super handy, but the thing I use it for the most, adjusting volume, is really difficult due to its sensitivity. You turn the bezel knob on the watch to make the adjustment and usually I only need to change the volume by one number up or down, but to do that is nearly impossible. I overshoot both ways EVERY SINGLE TIME. Back and forth, back and forth to get to the number I want. 😠 It doesn’t need to be so sensitive that you go from one end of the scale all the way to the other in one scroll. If the developer is reading this, please tune down the sensitivity of the volume adjustment bezel.

Thank you
copper#1,
App is stuck
The app is stuck all the time at 18% whether the aid is connected or not. In fact it says it’s not connected, it still says it’s 18% and it is connected. The app is useless. Freezes until it’s re-paired and then only for a short time. Remote control never works anymore. And the hearing aid drops periodically. Sometimes I have toJust put it in the wireless charger for 10 seconds or so and then back in my ear and it works until the next time it drops. Other times, if I tap on it when it’s in my ear it will come back. At the times when I actually have to put it back in the charger, after maybe two hours of use, and it dies – if I’m not home I can’t put it in the charger so I’m stuck with a dead hearing aid until I can get back home For the money, I’m very disappointed. I would not recommend this hearing aids to anyone
