myqwell,
Could be improved
This app works well with my Widex Moment 440 hearing aids.
Pros: The app is responsive and reliable, something that is more unusual than it should be with the other hearing aid apps that I’ve used over the years. The app is geolocation aware, so if you have a preset/favorite set for home, it will change to that preset as you are approaching your home from elsewhere. The interface for creating presets/favorites is pretty good with the customization process.
Cons:
This app seems to have been designed by people who have not used it with hearing aids for more than a few minutes of functional testing. Your favorite/preset icons cannot be moved visually so that they would be the first thing you see. You have to scroll horizontally until you locate it; with time users develop and refine presets and strangely for these you have to keep scrolling to locate them.
The equalizer only has three adjustment points. For a hearing aid that is highly regarded as a musician’s brand, this limitation is just wrong. Again, it is as if the app designers don’t really understand the product their app is supporting or their users. For the money all of us have paid for the aids, I am disappointed.
Bad Kitty,
Gets confused with my Tesla
Because it is a REQUIREMENT for your phone to be connected to a Tesla because it is your car key, I can’t keep turning off bluetooth and turning it back on. But while driving my car, and I cannot use the app to turn down the volume. I had to purchase the separate remote to turn down the volume while I’m driving. None of my other bluetooth headphones have this problem, so why are these hearing aids so limited? Also, I have an Apple Watch, and even though I downloaded the Widex app, I CANNOT control the hearing aids with my watch alone. The PHONE has to be connected to the hearing aids, then the watch can control the hearing aids, but if your phone is DEAD, the app on the watch doesn’t work, even though I have a cellular connection on my watch. Not happy with the app…and why am I required to go to my audiologist to load sounds??? I really hate these sounds, and I ended up with these HUGE hearing aids so I can use MyNoise, an app that works well. You need more options for tones, and allow ME as the user to be able to switch and load as needed. I live an hour and a half from my audiologist, and the fact that I have to set up an appointment and drive three hours round trip when a tone doesn’t work is really crappy. I’m in the early stages of trying to work through this, and in a noisy office I can’t tell what tones MIGHT work. But none of your tones have helped at all…you need more options, with an equalizer function that USERS can change.
zzgggjjgss,
Update- new version fixed all the issues. Hearing aids great; app horrible
Update- the new version July 2021 fixed the issues. Widex was slow to update the app until this time. Glad to see a quick response. I’m sure OS changes are hard to keep up with, but a quick response and update is appreciated.

Changing from 1 star to 5

With the cost of hearing aids, you'd think they would develop a good app. This app makes the hearing aids unusable. The app developer should wear the hearing aids and the problem wouldn't take long to appear. They did fix the very loud clicking sound when switching on/off streaming. But now they disconnect all day long. Sometimes not reconnecting. Happens even while on the phone and I have to end the call. So embarrassing. Music program makes listening enjoyable again, but streaming music is extremely bad. Sounds like you're riding in a tunnel. Wish I could override it and set to non streaming music. It's like they don't test the app. Perfect hearing aids turned unusable via the app. I would volunteer to help test if needed. It seems like that's what's missing. If these don't improve, I'm trying another brand, which is sad as the hearing aids are so great. I'll send feedback to their website too as it doesn't appear they look here.
Katzbro,
Hopeful
The app looks great in theory. Too often the Bluetooth connection is inconsistent. I have to keep removing the app from my phone and rebooting the whole thing.

When I got these I had the impression that the charging case would be something we could take the hearing aids in when we travel, but you cannot. You have to have the charger separate from the case. That’s a little awkward. I think it could’ve been designed to be a case and a charger at the same time.

Lastly, the newer version of this app doesn’t allow me to adjust the equalizer in a way that helps me understand treble versus bass. It only gives me options like “more clear speech” etc. I have a particular hearing loss in the upper frequencies and I would like to be able to adjust for that specifically. I’m having to guess right now.
Deaf and mad,
The worst hearing aids I’ve ever used. Because of this app.
This is the glitch used most unreliable, constantly changing app I have ever used ever. Not just with hearing aids. The app itself can take up to five seconds to open. I’m pretty much so angry at this hearing aids in this app that I’m not gonna leave any more of a review than to say, do not ever buy widex hearing aids. I said this with absolute confidence. I’ve had mine for 18 months and it has been absolutely nothing but problems endlessly. I am deaf right now, simply because of these hearing aids. And when you go into their office, they will not listen to them both at the same time. They will listen to each hearing aid through a little plastic tube. But the Widex moment uses dual processors to work independently.

No audiologist, or hearing aid specialist has been trained by Widex to listen to both hearing aids at once. There is often a wait-and-see between the two where they are processing a different speeds. Sounds like Johnny Cash. The remote make that cost 400 it’s pretty much unusable because of the latency channel and the direct signal from the mic. I bought a brand new iPhone, and none of these problems changed.
Wootieli,
Working well in iOS 16.2
I too had issues with my aids connecting to the app in 16.1 but I did find a work around by just going to the Accessibility screen then Hearing where my aids are and it would then connect to the app. But I’m using 16.2 now. I’m a beta tester for iOS so I don’t know if 16.2 is public yet or not but it fixed the connection issue. My aids now connect quickly when I launch the app. I do wish they would make our app more flexible so we can move our icons where we want them and make a particular program be default ourselves. Also agree with the review complaining about the basic EQ adjustments available. These should be way more adjustable and fine tunable, particularly for musicians! At any rate sounds like they’re at least trying with the recent app update and firmware updates.
RJ7bb,
Connection/switching noise with iOS
I tried the Oticon opn 1 for a couple weeks and then WIDEX 440. I wanted to try WIDEX because sound directionality in Oticon seemed poor and it was amplifying noises like tires in cars too much, and music was bad. WIDEX is better with all of these and seem more accurate, although I’m yet to experience it in a noisy speech environment.

However, there something really annoying about WIDEX which throws a wrench at the experience and prompted me to write this review: there is clicking/switching noise anytime streaming starts/ends from iPhone, or even when I simply switch apps, tap on text fields, etc. I’m not talking about intentional sound effects from iOS like keyboard key sound effects (which I have disabled), but rather an undesirable and frequent connect/disconnect kind of noise from the aid speakers. I had to disable Audio routing from accessibility/hearing aids section to eliminate most of this noise, but as a result of that lost automatic iOS sound routing.

Please fix this! Not sure a firmware update can resolve it, but it seems to be less frequent after the aids are turned on in the morning, and then a few hours later it gets worse.

Oticon does not suffer from this problem and I was able to keep audio routing on (automatic)
Silverdrmd,
Version update is good, watch app still needs work
I’ve been using the widex moment hearing aids for about a year. They have been working very well however there is an Apple Watch app but it only really works completely in the presence of your iPhone. Yesterday I had an update of my firmware for the hearing aids and also download the newest iPhone app. It is also installed on my Apple Watch.

My complaint is that I have an Apple Watch that is LTE connected and with this app should work with my hearing aids when I go outside without my phone. The fact is that it doesn’t. This is a mistake on the part of white X because an Apple Watch app that doesn’t work without the phone is not an Apple Watch app. Please try to fix this
Didimautwo,
Garbage but you’ll need it.
This app needs a serious update. Battery life has a glitch that tells you your aids are dead even though they’re not. Whatever the audiologist puts on there, you cannot delete( I have Zen profiles I don’t need on there and can’t delete myself). “My sound” should have your pre made profiles in there with the option of creating new ones, not just a creation tab. There’s MAYBE four colors throughout the whole app which makes it bland and depressing. As an app developer myself, I could’ve made this in less than 12hrs, BUT it’s something you need if you want any control over your aids which makes the app even more cringe. I wouldn’t recommend it, but unfortunately you’ll need it, like a car needs gas, if you want any control of what/how you’re hearing things. Step it up Widex.
Fridays77,
App not able to connect to two devices simultaneously
Unlike with my previous hearing aids (Phonak Audeo L90-RL) and using the Phonak app, it appears my Widex A/S Moment MRR4D 440 RIC/RITE hearing aids cannot connect to two devices (e.g., iPhone and iPad) simultaneously using the Widex Moment app.

For example, when I first turn on my hearing aids in the morning, if I happen to be near my iPad, the Widex Moment app (on my iPad) detects the hearing aids. However, if I then go to another room in my house where my iPhone is located, I have to turn my hearing aids off and then back on before the Widex Moment app (on my iPhone) recognizes my hearing aids (and vice versa).

This is a serious feature deficiency/flaw that I wish Widex would incorporate/fix. If Phonak’s app can connect to two devices simultaneously, Widex’s app should be able to do so as well, especially since Phonak is a much younger company.
