Worst App Ever Developed
If I could give ZERO stars I would. WORST APP DEVELOPED!!!

If you want to review balances, card saved on your child’s account, what your child purchased, the app is perfect. You want to action anything on the count like change cards, set auto-replenish, make a manual 1x payment, let me save you time and frustration….DO EVERYTHING FROM COMPUTER/LAPTOP!!! I wasted so much time trying to switch my credit card on my account and reset auto-pay when my card expired. All screens appeared to accept my new card, but auto-replenish continued to decline because I needed to make 1 manual payment from card. However, the app doesn’t allow for a manual payment!!! Went to site on laptop and completed necessary transactions in less than 5 minutes. How about revising app description to read “View account information only!!!”. Worthless if you actually need to maintain child’s lunch account!!!

The only positive…PaySchoolsCentral customer service via email was responsive and provided quick answer to my simple issue.
locosale,
Frustrating App
First I had trouble putting the password in when I first registered. It kept telling me the password and the confirmation password didn’t match. They did. I tried three times, typing very carefully. No luck. I called the help center. The woman on the phone emailed me a link to reset my password. It didn’t work. She had to reset it on her end. I thanked her and hung up. I followed the instructions on the app to add students. I did everything exactly right, but kept getting the message, “No match found for patron.” Called the help center again. She tried to do it on her end, but got the same message. She said I must not have the correct student number or I may be spelling the name differently than the way the school has it in their records. This is not the case. I give up. I’m sending in a paper check to the school. This app is too frustrating!

Changed for the worse
PayForIt was basic, but it worked
PaySchoolsCentral is buggy and has been from the start.

It always offers to help me apply for reduced price lunch. I always click “do not show again”. It always shows again.

It had due dates wrong for my kids’ school. They claim it was a school issue, but in light of other bugs, I’m disinclined to believe them.

Right now it keeps telling me that I need to update before using the app. I click update, it takes me to the App Store, then nothing happens. I’ve tried this 6 times now and no update.

Beyond the bugs, the layout of both the website and the app aren’t intuitive for me. It took a while to find the transaction history, and now I can’t just see it in the app, they have to email me a report.

Also frustrating that I can’t select which students to receive low-balance alerts for. One kid goes half-day and does not eat lunch at school. I either have to accept getting a low-balance alert for her every single day, or not get any alerts for my other kids at all. (This one was an issue with PayForIt as well)

I know there were other frustrating things that I’ve forgotten right now. Please fix the app!
4Jaynee,
Worst app I’ve ever seen or used - I work in user experience
This is quite possibly the worst app I have ever used. Last year I couldn’t get my kids set up because they didn’t inform us of how they actually spelled my kids names (obviously they spelled their names wrong). This year when we’re finally actually using it after Covid, I can’t even log into the account. After maybe three seconds the app times out so I can’t even technically login to do anything. I’ve tried to email customer support - no response. I’ve tried to call customer support and keep getting this long loop of automated voice and all they want to do is send me a link to help when the problem is actually the app won’t let me login officially. There’s no way to get any help.

Someone needs to hire real development staff
I just spent 10 minutes trying to login to this piece of crap to for my kids first day of school. Seriously, whoever wrote this app has never bothered to test the thing. I have a suggestion. The entire development and testing teams for this app should have to use it in order to get their paychecks. I’ll bet most of the issues with signing in, getting rid of the pop ups that expire your session and kick you out, the confusing and inaccurate icons and alerts that pop up when trying to set up auto replenishment would all go away. In fact make the CEO do it as well. Maybe the thing would get fixed.
goomzi gob,
Basic Useful App
It’s a basic, useful tool that could use some refinement, but not as “useless” or terrible as some other reviews make it seem. I like it, because it allows you to set a threshold for payment for lunch money and automatically replenishes at that set level, set and forget is great! One less thing about which to worry.

The reports on what your kid is eating is comprehensive and helps me monitor good and poor choices of food, without this tool I couldn’t have an intelligent conversation with my child about better nutrition.

Additionally, the ability to pay for other school fees is great! No more check writing and forgetting to drop off at school!

Just a side note, other reviews complain about it formerly being easier to just view on the app what your child is eating versus having to generate an emailed report…it’s not that big a deal. Maybe find something more important about which to whine?? Thanks!

Too basic
Basically all you can do in the app is see your kid’s balance, add to their account, or set auto replenishment. If you want to see any history, it forces you to download a report that gets emailed to you - I’d rather be able do see it right on the screen and not have more emails/files unless I need it.

If you have kids at different schools in different schools they both use this platform, you can’t manage them on the same account - you actually have to set up a separate account using a different email.

Not critical, but would be nice to be able to change the icons for each kid for a visual difference between them.

Next to worthless
Any school board or school board representative thinking of switching or implementing PaySchools should use their app that is terrible and they will immediately look elsewhere. The audacity to charge a $2 internet convenience fee insinuates that their app is intuitive or easy to use, let me assure you it’s not. Yes you can easily add money to your child’s account but the rest if the features will send you emails of data that could just as easily be shown in the app. This app reeks of a company not trying because they deal with a guaranteed pay source and can easily hold their audience captive regardless of how inept they ares
makethebestofit,
Categories not intuitive
Lots of mental thinking to figure out how to replenish lunch meals. Not intuitive. When you get to the dashboard you have to figure out that you have to go to the cart in order to put something in the cart. And then you have to go back into the car to check out. Need a simple “replenish” or “pay” next to each child- then checkout. Also home is where the dashboard is but other places have account information which is where I first went to pay for things and where auto replenish is. Organization is very poor
Greg prdxcs,
Worst customer service ever
They have a support number and no one will ever answer . There is always a recording that says two people are ahead of you but an hour later it says the same thing . It will ask if you want them to hold your place in line and they will call you back . No one ever calls back . Useless company , app and customer service . It seems like after Covid customer service has really went downhill for the most part with most companies . PaySchools is no exception . My son’s school said call them , they are very nice and helpful. I can’t ever get anyone on the phone to find out .
