This version may be small, but it contains something you'll love: From now on, secondary working muscle groups are counted in the training volume stats! In short, we have chosen to define one set for a primarily working muscle as exactly one set (just as before), while a set for a secondary working muscle will count as half a set. Check out the change on the statistics page!

The update also includes a couple of important bug fixes.
5.10.2
2023-04-20
Oh yeah, now we send the new calculation of calories burned during your workout to Apple Health. Go to the settings page in the app to activate it.

From now on you can also pause active workouts, for example if you train continuously during the day or take longer breaks at the gym.

Also:
- Workout name is visible in the exercise history.
- Updated formula for estimated 1RM when using RPE.
- The time estimate for workouts includes the entered time in endurance exercises.
5.10.1
2023-04-09
We sent positive thoughts out into the universe and got rid of a bunch of stubborn bugs, including an annoying one for anyone lifting with pounds instead of kilograms.

Also:
- You can now edit planned workouts directly from the calendar view in the training log.
- We removed the character limit from exercise comments. Now you can write entire novels there!

Achievements are here! Log workouts to reach small and big milestones in your training. Tap your profile on the startscreen to view all achievements.

This version includes another new, major feature: Energy expenditure during your workouts! Please note that this is not an exact science, but we've tried our best to find a decent algorithm for calculating how many calories a strength workout burns. Don't want to see it? Turn it off on the settings page.

We've redesigned your profile page, to make room for badges and achievements (coming soon)! We're also sneaking out a first beta of calendar events, so that you can add, for example, sick days, vacation days, menstruation days and other events that may have an impact on your training.

The update also contains bug fixes of previous bug fixes, to make room for future bug fixes.

This app is closing in on its fourth birthday, and it's time for a small change. With this version we'll swap out the old app icon on your homescreen to our new mascot.

Let's call it Oxis, for now. A strong, gentle giant looking after your gains. We'll be adding more versions of the icon in the future, for you to choose from. Or maybe earn the right to use. Who knows ...

This version also includes bug fixes.

Small but useful news in today's update:
• See a preview of the plate calculator directly on the keyboard. The preview also works as a button, to open the calculator.
• Choose the muscle map when creating an image for sharing.
• Improved tags when sorting the workouts and training programs.
• Add videos to sets directly from the training log, without having to edit the workout.
• Plenty of smashed bugs! Their funeral will be announced at a later date.

Intuitive, Powerful, Content-Rich Training App
It’s like somebody read my mind and built a strength training app that works exactly the way I would want it to if I was smart enough to think through everything and design it well.

Entering workouts while working out is actually not irritating (magic). I love the ability to start a workout based on your last workout, which eliminates 35 years of wondering “how much did I lift on this exercise last week?” The exercise documentation is great, the muscle map visualization is useful, and even the company website is full of high quality, informative content (100 thanks for the carefully referenced article on training over 50, super useful). And I even find the basic total weight moved graph very motivational (I am a simple animal).

I haven’t even moved past the free version yet, but will soon upgrade for the additional reporting, and to support the development of a top-notch app.
Winston BigChips,
Disappearing workouts?
The app layout is redundant when it comes to planning workouts and viewing the history/browsing other workouts, having tab customization along with hiding irrelevant sections would be much appreciated. The auto-suggestions for common exercises are handy instead of having to type them out, and the muscle diagram helps with knowing exactly which parts of the body you are targeting, but the core function of the app for logging and completing sets is lacking. For some reason, planning a workout to be done on the same day is a hassle, there is no confirmation button on the date scroller, so you have to pick some other day in advance, back out, then re-edit the date just to have it planned on the same day. It is also not made very clear how to mark a workout as done, you end up having to tap the small blank space to the left of a set. If you tap anywhere else you just edit weight or rep amount. The most frustrating bug is having complete workouts disappear if they are saved on the same day; I have looked through multiple sections just to try remaking the same workout and having it vanish all the same, even after confirmation. As it stands, the cluttered and maximalist main page hitting you in the face with statistics and graphs instead of getting right to workout planning and logging makes this a three-star app. Kudos to StrengthLog however for not locking essential functions behind paywalls or even paying to register an account.
Jakewisdom,
Great App!
Really liking this app! I am 55 years old, lifelong runner, and other cardio guy. I recently decided it was time to begin serious strength training. I found a link to this app in an article about beginning, weight training. After trying the free version for couple weeks, I started paying for it. The free version alone is great but I wanted the extras in the premium. Also the developers earned my money and I want to pay them. I love the workouts, both the free and premium provided in the app. The tracking and analytics are super helpful for “seeing” my progress. Demo videos great for learning . Related articles are all based on latest strength and hypertrophy science. 8 weeks into my program and looking forward to keeping it going! Thanks for the help!
Hoot11,
This is it
To track workouts/reps/progress, this is the app. I tried 10 apps before this one. I needed something synonymous to carrying a notepad to the gym like back in the day. This is it, you can choose one of their plans or build your own plan. Whomever designed this app was probably interrupting their workouts to take notes on how to build the right workout app.

DL it and try it out, I was very skeptical and was sold once I started tinkering around with it and realizing how much more easier it was to track on this app.

Great job! design team. Love those hidden gem “workouts” on the workout list.

Definite 5 Star
This app isn’t cheap. In this case though you get what you pay for if you’re serious about lifting. I have searched and searched for an app that would let me design programs based on percentages and this one is the only one I’ve found. I would have paid for that feature alone.

However, the app is well designed all around and loaded with features. If you think there is data that isn’t included the chances are you just haven’t found it yet.

Customer service was responsive and helpful when I had questions.
RCJ-CEDAR,
Best App Ever, free or not
I am not a consistent person. I struggle to follow a program. I also waste time looking up form, how to do a workout, I just don’t use my time well at the gym. This app is a game changer. It can set up a program for you, provides a video on “how to,” as well as written instructions, allows you to swap out and exercise with one click, and all that for free. Anyone that works out should have this app. I’m done looking and paying for garbage apps. Thank you Strength Log for existing.
Gurraburra12345,
Simply amazing
This is just an awesome app. It simply has every feature that I’ve always looked for in a strength training tracking app - and quite a few I didn’t know that I wanted, but now are key to my tracking.

Frequently updated with more features and a great freemium offer.

I started out with the free version which is really good, but quite soon shifted to premium, partly for the extra features, but also because I really want to support this app!
C-T-G,
Amazing
I’m an intermediate lifter, but have worked out through various means all my life. I have done one workout with StrengthLog. This app is the most intuitive and useful app I have found when it comes to lifting.

Tons of free built in workouts, offline use, optional customizations, and an amazing UX/UI. I’m in college and don’t have the money for premium, but I’ll be going through the free workouts until I have the spare cash to subscribe.

Thanks to the devs! Amazing work!
Drew_Allen,
Fantastic App
This app is extremely helpful in tracking progress through mesocycles and the entire calendar year. It has lots of cool features like a rest timer and your yearly PR’s for every exercise. They continue to update and add additional features. I highly recommend the premium subscription, which comes with tons of different training programs, from hypertrophy to strength and powerlifting focus. Can’t recommend this app enough.
Woladorsky,
Awesome strength logging app
I came across these guys app by chance and boy what a discovery!! The algorithm proposing heavier weights based on your lifting history is excellent no matter if you are using your own programs or those offered by the app. The interface is easy and user friendly. You have a library of super complete exercises with videos and very clear written explanations. I highly recommend it and wouldn’t change it for any other!!
