Description

This app calculates your weights if you are using Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 program, which promises slow and steady gains that will eventually turn you into the strongest guy in the gym.

Version history

1.0.2
2016-02-03
This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.

Changes:
Increased font size
Display fixes for iPhone 4/4s
Warm up is now properly 5-5-3 rather than 5-5-5

Please rate and give feedback, I will never put in ads or popups asking you to rate the app. I developed this for my personal use, but if enough people are interested I will add more 5-3-1/BBB variations, or possibly the ability to build your own workout plan.

I have another update coming in the near future that:
Clarifies some confusion people have had with what the weights you are setting are (it's your one rep max)
Allows you to undo a set by clicking on it again.
Allows you to disable the second set of cardio (like squats on bench day)

Thanks!
Chris

FailedPoets,
Simple and effective 5/3/1 BBB
Been using this App for almost a year now and I can't say enough good things about it! For those who are looking to do Jim Wendler's Big But Boring (or Boring But Big) routine this App is the best one I've found. I've been through multiple 4 week cycles and I'm seeing consistent gains. Just put on your 1 Rep Max for Bench, Deadlift, Squat and OH Press and off you go! All the warm up sets, work sets, cardio sets and accessory/complementary lifts are already calculated for the entire 4 weeks. I'm a slow-and-steady-wins-the-race lifter and I'm more than satisfied with consistent, albeit small, gains without getting over trained (which I'm prone to do). Thanks for the App and if there are any other versions I would be interested!
GregSpring,
Love it
I have never given an App review before until now. This App has changed/improved my life...I can't wait to get to the gym to do my workout and I can't wait to leave when I'm done cuz I'm usually spent. My strength has never been better and I haven't felt this good/strong since college days. I guess if I have to come up with a gripe it would be to list some accessory lifts but I have come up with my own routine after the BBB work out. Thanks for this App I love it.

Perfection
Much like the other 5 star reviews, I appreciate how simple and easy it is to use this app and incrementally increase my lift weights… I’m not one for doing even simple calculations while prepping or working out so this has really helped me a lot!
_Marco_,
Great potential but hard to use outside the US
This app seems awesome! Minimalist and to the point. I really would love to use it but it is not possible to use Kg instead of lb. While putting the Kg values instead of lbs seems an option then the rounding is at 5lbs as opposed to the 2.5Kg. Another nice feature could be to allow to change the second cardio (e.g. pull up on first day, leg rise on second day and so on)
IronMike61,
5/3/1 simplified
Out of the all the 5/3/1 apps available, this is by far the most simple.
To the developer: it would be great if there were a section for notes so we could keep track of accessory exercises.
Other than that it is a great app.

Solid App - Kept It Simple
Provides basic direction and allows you to "check off" the sets as you go. Would be nice if you could add an assistance lift or two, but that's not a complaint. Good app for lifting weights, go somewhere else if you need graphs and gizmos.
tdrusk,
Simple
I love this app and the way it takes the thinking out of the program. I walk into the gym, load the app, and do my workout. No ads, no extra bs, just a good workout template. If I wrote an app I’d write it exactly like this.
Phlpsdvd,
Good app but might could use some additional functionality
I’ve been using the app for a short time but noticed right off that I would like to have a automatic progression for each cycle that I don’t have to enter manually. I also think it would be a jiffy to add a timer clock between sets. Just my two cents.
Wolfedogydog,
Simple and Easy
I like the simple design and set it and forget it program. Can you add a countdown timer that pops up between sets after you tap the pink color bar to green? That would make it sweet! Nice app.
Barousse,
Great app
First day in the app. Great workout! I love the 5/3/1 method with this simple interface. Only suggestions I can think of are an in app timer, and additional accessory lifts i.e. Pull-ups curls etc. thank you very much for this free app.
