Description

KeyLifts takes the math out of the 5/3/1 program so you can focus on getting stronger. Everything is planned out for you. Know exactly what you need to do as soon as you step into the gym. KeyLifts automatically calculates all your sets so you can focus on hitting new Personal Records.

Planning and tracking a 5/3/1 program is time-consuming and hard. You have to calculate your training max and then calculate every single set based on your training max. It doesn't have to be like that. You could just walk into the gym every day knowing exactly what you need to lift. KeyLifts takes the math out of the 5/3/1 program so you can focus on getting stronger and hitting new PRs.

Every cycle you have to redo the entire planning process, but not anymore! With one button press, you can create a new cycle with all the weights automatically calculated for you.

If you haven't hit your ultimate strength goals yet then maybe it's because you have to spend so much time at the gym calculating weights for each set. Stop wasting your precious energy. Just plug in your numbers to KeyLifts and go.

The 5/3/1 program is amazing for strength gains but your energy and time are wasted trying to figure out what plates you need for each set. In the upgraded Pro version you get a Plate Calculator so you focus on the things that matter.

Getting stronger is about putting in the work every week but it's hard to see the progress you are making. The Pro version includes graphs of your one-rep maxes over time. Feel confident knowing you are doing the right things and making progress.

If you are the type of person that likes to track everything the Pro version also includes the ability to add and track Joker sets and assistance exercises.

Free Features:
- Plan an entire 5/3/1 cycle with one button press
- Alerts when you hit a new Personal Record (PR)
- Warm-up sets
- Rest Timer
- 150+ templates from the 5/3/1 Books
- Build your own custom templates
- Track assistance exercises
- Track Joker sets
- Delete or swap exercises during a workout

You can subscribe to the Pro version on either a monthly or yearly basis. Pro Features include:
- Automatic Training Max progressions

- PR Board. On the Profile tab, you'll see a new data chart called PR board. This shows the highest weight you've lifted at each rep amount from 1-12 reps.

- Wilks score on the profile tab. This is a measure of strength relative to body weight. The app will also let you know after a workout if your Wilks score has increased.

- I've changed how the 'Reps for PR' number is calculated. It used to be based on your highest 1 Rep Max of all time. But after some time this number becomes unattainably high because of things like injuries, breaks, program changes, etc. All normal things in the life of a lifter. So, 'Reps for PR' is now 'Target Reps' and it's based on your highest estimate 1RM over your last 8-12ish completed exercises.

- When creating or editing an exercise, you can now choose an exercise type of Reps x Weight Assisted. This is for exercises like assisted pull-ups, assisted dips, etc.

- Edit a workout before starting it.
- On the Profile tab you now have four favorite exercises. Charts for these exercises will be shown on the Profile tab, including a chart showing all four exercises together. Tap on the "Dashboard Edit" icon (shown above, top right) to change your favorite exercises.
- Time since last completed set.
- INOL (Intensity x Number Of Lifts). When editing a template (in the detailed view) you'll now see the INOL for main and supplemental exercises. There's an INOL measure for each set and a total for the exercise on an individual and weekly basis.

- Create a single workout. Want to record a single one-off workout? Now you can! When you tap the "+" button on the Workout screen you\'ll see the option to create a single empty workout. Perfect for the times you want to record a quick workout without building a template.

- Override workout duration. If you perform half a workout, pause for a while, then perform the rest of the workout later in the day the app would calculate workout duration for the entire period including the break in the middle. This is obviously not ideal. Now you can choose to override the workout duration to something more accurate when you finish the workout.

- Band tracking. You can now track the bands you use for an exercise. The resistance amount of the band will be included in volume calculations. You can also edit an exercise to be "band assisted" and the volume calculation will be decreased accordingly.

- Body weight included in volume calculation. Your body weight is now included in volume calculations for "Body Weight" or "Weighted" exercises. This is useful for exercises like pull ups, dips, etc. Each exercise has a body weight percentage that you can adjust to suit your needs, e.g. if you want to count 50% of your body weight for push ups you can set the percentage to 50%.

sonrisa arquitecto,
THE FERRARI OF 5/3/1!
You have never seen anything like this before! The inexplicable amount of time invested into this work of “software art”, and the unmistakable passion for the 5/3/1 philosophy become obvious as soon as you open the app! That alone justifies the price of the subscription in a heartbeat! Silky smooth, intuitive and outstandingly reliable- the app is a “delicious” bite from the App Store’s kitchen! The meticulously structured 110 templates would make Jim Wendler happy! Everything works: counts, combines, remembers! A few years ago, when the app was a little baby 👶 , making the first timid steps, some impatient, unhappy people left the undeserved one-Star reviews! Today, a Super-Smart Kid, the App will show a stunning performance that is Superior to any competition! Do you want the Encyclopedia of 5/3/1 in your pocket? Do you want to experience the sensational support from the developer? Then- go for it! You will not be disappointed! To the Developers: Extremely well done! Outstanding! Bravo!!
Thuggedup,
Really enjoying this app
Just finished my first cycle of 5/3/1 and I’m really enjoying this app. I love the plate calculator and how it tells you when you set a new PR and what you need to do to reach it. The only thing I have a question about is the TM for the next cycle, I started a second cycle and when it generated my training Max’s, my press went up 28lbs and my squat 11lb but my bench down 17lb and my dead’s down 9lb. I thought you were suppose to add 5 and 10lbs on each new cycle? That’s the only things about the app that’s confusing me at the moment but all in all I liked it so much I bought the pro version.
Dippedinblackink,
Several issues found with the app…
I used the app for two Leader cycles of the template God Is A Beast. During my 12 week use of the app I found several things wrong with the app. One of them was my percentages on week 6 were all sorts of messed up for whatever reason. I had to manually adjust them in order to hit the prescribed percentages that were the correct ones from the 531 Forever book.

Another issue I found was that my main lower body movements were not being increased by 10lbs as is the recommendation per 531. Instead they were only increased by 5lbs.

Another issue I found was in the God Is A Beast Anchor template. The 5x5 supplemental work was done on a completely separate day instead of being on the same day as it should be.

I’m sure there are many other little issues like this within app and templates that I don’t see it being worth a monthly cost.

I will say that the creator of the app is great in regards to responding to these issues when you email him about them. On the flip side it is annoying and cumbersome having to email him in regards to the issues over and over. Who knows if they’ll even be corrected.

Because of the issues I canceled my subscription and deleted the app. If the issues eventually get fixed I may revisit the app but for now I’ll just use another tracking app for my training.
Micct,
Very disappointed
This app would be awesome if it would work like it was designed to. A complete waste of money but mostly a waste of valuable time. Sometimes I can’t start or finish a session or add an exercise. I haven’t been able to update my weight for a couple of weeks now. I have to delete and reload the app regularly to get it to work properly. And this last time I lost all my data even though I had it set up to back up to the cloud. I have a tight schedule and don’t have time to always be trouble shooting technical issues. My old 531 app was very simple - not a whole lot of customization available, but at least it worked! I will be going back to it. I have had it for a while with no problems. Too bad - because this app layout and features are awesome when it works. It’s just to unreliable. I won’t be renewing my subscription! Don’t waste your money if you don’t have time for troubleshooting on a regular basis!
Tlifter1088,
Great app with some issues
It’s great in many ways, but it is not easy to add training maxes back for if you delete them and unhide exercises if you hide one. Some of the programs are out of date such as Volume and Strength. The app uses the Beyond version, but the Forever version is slightly different. If you want to do the Forever version then you need to create your own program, which takes time. The number of programs in it is amazing though. I look forward to using this app and see it improve. My favorite part about the app though is not the app. It’s how the creator takes feedback and suggestions about features and bugs and usually follows through with them.
unbroken atom,
It’s ok
One thing I don’t like is that you can’t customize the days from the template. The 5/3/1 template is great for instance but I would never do a squat day followed by a back day and chest day followed by a military press day. That’s asking for injury, but there’s no way to rearrange day 1 from 2 or 3 to what fits your needs. I also highly dislike apps that want you to pay monthly or annually instead of a one time payment. One time payment for something I can justify but would never pay monthly for a program like this. I’d rather use paper and a pencil like I was before. Personally I wouldn’t pay more than $8 to unlock pro features of this app. I just don’t care and don’t think it’s worth my time. I think there’s other better apps out there for price and customization.
SageBait,
Best workout app
Great workout app that auto calculates your weights for you so you don’t have to think, you can just focus on lifting. That being said the UI could use some improvement. If I want to swap from Deadlifts to Rack Pulls for a whole cycle there’s no intuitive way to do it besides changing it for every week for the cycle. It could also use some more information for those who haven’t read all of Jim Wendler’s books. At it’s core, however, is a great app well worth the price. If you’re a serious lifter then this app is a no-brainer.
thewafflez,
Bug report
Hey man there’s a bug when trying to change the default rest times. I have a video but doesn’t look like I can add it here but basically if I click on a rest time and then the settings icon and then the time I want to change the menu shows up under that layout so I can’t scroll through the times to change any of them. I tried to put this in the contact sheet but Im getting an invalid error there
GD'T,
Decent but needs some bugs fixed
Great app, but definitely needs a decent developer or coder to go through and fix some stuff. Especially if it’s charged. It operates more like a free app than one you’re paying for. For instance when you go to swap exercises (say I want to add squats instead of leg press on squat day) it glitches and either doesn’t at the squat accessory or deletes the main lift. Obviously a bug due to me doubling up on squats in editing. There’s other small issues you could complain about too. But overall a decent app. Just leaves some things to be desired. {app note; this issue began after the last update I believe}
Cliff_sch,
Best 531 tracking app available!
Love this app. Developer is responsive to feedback and continually improves it. I love the availability of so many templates from the program and the ability to still tweak and adjust them as Wendell would suggest. It’s not a substitute for buying the books. But between owning a few of Wendler’s books and my subscription to this app, I have everything I need to push continuous progress and gains for the foreseeable future.
