Capt. Cobb,
Could be great
This has the makings of a great rowing app, but it falls flat on its face with glitches.
I have to re-pair it with Strava before every single row, or it won’t upload at the end of the workout. Also it’s not uncommon for the app to not recognize the start of a row and have to be closed out and rebooted before it will work.
The only reason I gave it two stars is that the graphics and information displayed are nice, although I’m sure diehard rowers would probably want more I depth live data
Jbrp,
Great idea but needs major work
***UPDATE- DO NOT PAY FOR PREMIUM. I’m surprised Apple even allows this but it literally does nothing. You will not get premium features. I thought my subscription had run out and my premium features were all gone, I paid again and nothing. Tried contacting them, nothing. Tried their online chat, nothing..no one ever responds. I googled their offices in Denver and it’s basically a rent a cube space downtown. Pretty sure all it is now is a billing server in someone’s moms basement. Don’t get scammed. Bums me out because this was a great concept at the start.

The hallmark of this app is it’s consistency...it consistently doesn’t work. Constantly disconnects from the concept 2, it can rarely find my heart rate monitor. I’ve never been able to get it to sync with my Strava after the first time. I started with the free version and it seemed ok but I wanted to do custom workouts so I went for the paid version and then all my problems began. I was really hoping to use this to work out with a friend in another state but it’s so unreliable I just use ErgData now because that seems to work 100% of the time. If they would work on getting the app right instead of collecting money I would change my review. The idea is great it is just so poorly executed. Also I contacted “support” which seems non existent as far as I can tell. Save your money
rowzinski,
Game Changer for your Concept2
It is not an overstatement to say this app changes everything with your Concept2 workouts. The best feature of this app is the ability to choose from countless workouts and the PUSH THOSE WORKOUTS to your PCM all in just seconds. No more straining your brain for something different to try and then sitting there pushing buttons on the PCM like it is 1982. You will need a special cable or a PCM5 that can connect via Bluetooth. In addition - the metrics and feedback LiveRowing provides is excellent. You can also see where you rank against other users. LiveRowing can be easily set up to push your completed workout to your Concept2 logbook as well as your Strava account. I have been using the free version for about a week and cannot overstate how much better this has made my rowing workouts. I will definitely be purchasing the paid version.
If you need to put some spice back into your relationship with your Concept2 this is the solution.

Unusable as it gets
This is a prime reason why apps should all be free with an upgrade option for additional features. We just purchased a concept2 model D and we were looking forward to using this app on our workout journeys. The decision was made to try the free option to determine if paying would be worth our money. Thank goodness we didn’t pay upfront because it cataloged our first workouts perfectly with a great info board. Our second night however was a different story. The app seemed to work flawlessly again, that is until we were done and the app says we have incomplete workouts. Attempting to log in to see what is wrong the app completely crashes. It took 10 seconds the first night to find the PM5 monitor and now it can take up to 15 minutes. I surely hope the app developers are still working on this app because it would be great if it worked. As of right now I would give it zero stars if I could due to it being a broken app.
nelanka,
Buggy on startup and no new features
I’ve used this so for a year and it’s alright. UI seems to be following their own sense of design. Not intuitive. The online features are very rudimentary. You can’t build workouts on the web. It’s just got a basic log book view. Initially I got this to be able to sync to Strava, but since then I’ve found HealthFit and that app can do all syncing.

This product doesn’t seem to be in active development. Can we expect new features? Their webpage looks exactly as it did last year, which is to say it looked years old. In their store, there is a cradle for an iPhone 4-7 and a Polar H7 HRM. These are pretty old and not even sold anymore.

There just doesn’t seem to be the kind of apps for rowing that we have for Running and specially Cycling. Maybe Zwift will add rowing.
muzepost,
Does not work as advertised
Like many reviews here, this app is not working correctly. The first day I used it all worked fine, linked Strava, log book, and the work outs worked correctly, but can’t get it to work again.

Do not use this app in its current state, it will lead to more frustration sessions then workout sessions.

I do think this app has amazing promise, please take this as positive criticism, I want to use this app, please fix the linking problems!

2nd time I used it nothing linked, and I had to manual upload to log book, then download the file and add it to Strava.

3rd time everything seemed to actually work with Strava linked to my log book instead of the app. Silly work around, the app just uploads to my c2 log book and then Strava links to log book.

4th time the data that uploaded was missing all my heart rate info and watts so it’s useless for my Strava performance tracking.

5th time the workout I chose would not populate correctly at all, I had to restart my workout 3 times, finally gave up, and re rowed the workout i did yesterday. I manually update Strava with the log from my log book.

This app is not working as intended and needs to be fixed as it’s currently the app everything suggests to use for Strava and rowing on a concept2 which is frustratingly inaccurate.

Pleas fix.
Netomik,
Unusable and Overpriced
Would give 2 or 3 stars if they were as easy to contact as other developers or if the app at least saved workout data consistently even if everything else buggy.

Great idea with awful implementation. If you have a PM4 (and below probably) stay away from this app. If you have a PM5 it might work for you for very specific uses, reviews are “mixed” at best which is completely unacceptable from a pricy app like this one.

I saw several complaints about it not always saving the workouts. I was expecting it to be a rare occurrence. So I set it up get on the erg... It didn’t save my first 30min workout. Did a shorter one. Took ages to upload.
There are just too many issues to try be cohesive. The app feels outdated and under maintained.
Workout editing is limited (at Premium)
Rankings make the app crash every time have never been able to see them
No support option/button no easy way to contact
No Apple subscription = No refunds no guarantees
Unstable Bluetooth connections
Mike62737393,
Amateurish execution
Great idea, but does not work well enough to use. I have an iPhone 11 pro and a PM5 and have spent almost an hour trying to get it to work properly. Only was able to get into one real workout, the rest of the time it just flashes “stop rowing” or “sit ready”, even when the handle is set in the cradle and the flywheel is still. No clue how I got into the one workout I did, must have gotten lucky. Tapping the screen prompts me to quit workout. Either bad UI or engineering, maybe both. Almost purchased for the HR integration, but glad I didn’t. Will look elsewhere or wait for these guys to get it together.
andresrow,
LOVE this app!
Have been using the app for about 3 weeks and have been comparing it to many others. The number of featured workout options and community workouts has no equal in other apps. On top of that you have data that complements the data on the C2 logbook coupled with really nice design. Perfect? But please keep polishing this gem !
jbai16,
Game changer!
This app unlocks a vast array of workouts for the concept 2 rowing machine and motivates me to hit my rower more than I would otherwise. Yes the app crashes from time to time but not enough to impair the experience. I just purchased the paid version with the 2K wod workout program and hope to start shaving my times. This app is the real deal!
