This app is the “brain” of the robotic models you build with the Robotics: Smart Machines kits. The app uses the feedback from the models’ ultrasonic sensor together with programmed commands to control the models.
App Features
• Connect to your models via Bluetooth connection.
• Remote-control mode lets you directly control the models’ two motors forward and backward.
• Remote-control mode gives you a visual display of the object distance readings from the ultrasound sensor.
• Programming mode lets you script and save programs.
• Seven programs (Programs 1-7) are preloaded to work specifically with seven of the robot models in the “Robotics: Smart Machines” kit. Eight programs (Programs 9-16) are preloaded to work specifically with eight of the robot models in the “Robotics: Smart Machines - Rovers & Vehicles Edition” kit. Eight programs (Programs 17-24) are preloaded to work specifically with eight of the robot models in the “Robotics: Smart Machines - Tracks & Treads Edition” kit.
• A simple, visual programming language lets you program motors, sounds, and pauses.
• Different program segments can be set to run upon first run and then when the ultrasound sensor detects objects at different distances from the model.

In mid-2016, we made some changes to the electronic hardware in the Robotics: Smart Machines kit. If you have a kit manufactured after June 1, 2016, you will need this new version of the app to establish the Bluetooth connection between the hardware and your mobile device.
The app is backwards compatible; the new app will work with the previous versions of the hardware that were manufactured before June 2016.

Doesn’t work anyomore
I got the set a few years ago for Christmas and I built the robot and it was a lot of fun. Back when I got this I had an iPhone 7 and it connect to it just fine and it worked perfectly. I recently got the iPhone 11 Pro and when I went to go use the robot it won’t connect anymore. I’ve tried restarting my phone and I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling but but no matter what I do it won’t connect anymore.

Selling a product with an app that doesn’t work
Selling a Robotics Smart Machines Hoverbots with an Apple app that doesn’t work or comply with Apple apps 64 bit, nationally at all stores is a scam. If it doesn’t work it needs to be removed from being sold. There needs to be a class action law suit about selling something you know doesn’t work. There is no external control that can be used to make up for this issue.
Why are you continuing to sell a product that can’t connect to Bluetooth through the app that you have constructed to operate this product? It’s not fair to anyone to buy this and spend the time building it to find out it won’t work with Apple app. That’s a scam and needs to be resolved or you at least need to remove it from the market, and reimburse every person who has suffered the same issue with this product. You know it’s not fair and that it’s a bad thing to continue this kind product if it’s not working as sold. Please contact me about the situation. I have left a message about my sons toy and the issue with our phone number please follow up with a resolution.

The thing is dilapidated and in pieces now considering I built it two years ago and it was really depressing when it didn’t work. Works now. Maybe they fixed it? I’m just glad that they didn’t abandon the thing and actually made an attempt to help people instead of taking the money and running. If you guys really did fix this after all this time, I appreciate you. ^-^

Hello, I bought this item for my child, and the building part was great, it was a blast for me and him. (Hence the 2 stars) But then my son wanted to make the beetle move. Well... your app is a great idea yet it is very hard to learn, it makes c++ look like html. If you want people to ever buy from you again, might I suggest adding a guide to help us understanding how this works. Right now the building was fun but the programming made me sick to my stomach.

Good for iPhone 7
This app is good for iPhone 7 only the thing is that the crocodile tail is too heavy and the crocodile is too hard 😢it takes until 12:00 in the afternoon to finish and the app dos not work newer apple products which is sad but this a fun thing to do with friends and family.

So I got the robot a couple of years ago and at that time I had and iPod touch, which the iPod paired and I was able to drive the robot, then I got an iPhone thirteen and it does not work any more. I would really like to play with it agin. I still have my iPod touch and it won’t even work with that even more. :(

The robot was hard to build and when we tried connecting it it did not work at all I thought it was going to be a very fun time with the robot with the robot never wanted to connected when we tried connecting to Bluetooth it never work it only worked for a half a second

App Doesn’t Work
Build the robot according to instructions and was eager to start programming, but the app doesn’t work. Bluetooth disconnects and the app becomes useless. Pretty cool building experience, but we bought the product for the programming activities in addition to the building exercises. Disappointed that we can’t program.

Not connecting to Bluetooth
Is there an update or something? You guys have so many complaints and still have not fixed the issue. This is a huge disappointment to a child that worked hard to put this together only for it not to work. Please provide some customer service and fix the issue. Or refund us the money.
