Description

Run 10km (6.2 miles) with this simple series of interval workouts designed to gradually build your endurance. The Run 10k app is perfect for beginner runners and former runners who want to start running again. This app has voice cues that guide you even when your screen is locked. The app tells you when to run and walk and gives audio cues for distance and pace when you use GPS. You can use this app outside, on a track, or in the gym.

FEATURES
• Apple Watch app—you can leave your phone at home while you workout with our Watch app, or continue to use our Watch app together with the iPhone app.
• Speaks pace, distance, intervals, and halfway point.
• Optionally uses GPS for pace and distance. (You can also use this app on a treadmill or indoor track without GPS.)
• Animated, spoken stretching programs.
• Tap out your heart rate on the heart icon.
• Supports Bluetooth heart rate monitors.
• Integrates with the Health app.

ABOUT the WORKOUTS
• 13-week training program for beginners.
• Each workout ranges from 40 to 76 minutes long.
• Interval training alternates between jogging and walking.
• Workout intervals gradually become more challenging.
• Tapers in the last week for your 10k race.
• 5-minute warmup and 5-minute cooldown, which are optional.
• Speaks each jog and walk interval, the halfway mark, and 1-minute-left mark.
• Optionally speaks pace and distance information every mile or km.
• Automatically checks off each completed workout and records your date, pace, and distance.

COMING FROM RUN 5K?
If you’ve completed our Run 5k app and you're feeling good, you can start on Week 4 or 5 of our Run 10k app to continue your training. If you’re a couch potato, start from Week 1, or check out our Run 5k app first.

AUDIO CUES and NOTIFICATIONS
If you’re not getting Notifications in the background, open the Settings app, select Notifications, then scroll down to find Run 10k in the list. Tap on Run 10k and turn on Notification Center, choose an alert style, and turn everything else on (Sound, Badge App Icon, Lock Screen). Check your volume and make sure your ringer switch is not set to silent/vibrate.

HEALTH
This app can be integrated with the Health app. Your weight set in the Health app can be used to calculate Calories burned during a workout, and the total Active Calories burned can be saved to Health app after each workout. Sharing this information to the Health app is optional.

GPS and LOCATION
To show distance and pace information, Run 10k can use GPS location tracking during a workout. For best results, use this app outside where you can see open sky. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

MHrunMom,
Wish I could get a refund!
The app itself is fine and the watch app works great my problem is with the running plan itself....it's the worst plan I have ever used! Switched to the free version of running for weight loss so much better!
quake235,
Great programs to run with
I have been using these apps for at least 4 years. I appreciate the interval training and it builds moderately to the 5k and now I am trying the 10k. I have never entered a race, I just use these to get exercise and stay in shape for other activities. The stretches are also helpful and I never get too sore after I run. I even use them after cross country skiing. I just wish there was a maintenance app. Mostly I just go back and repeat weeks to vary the workouts.
nobizit,
Pretty good
I’ve used this app for two couch-to-10k journeys running and one on an elliptical. It does the job and even has support for Workouts/Fitness with the Apple Watch.

The only nit I’d pick is that the time on the watch doesn’t count properly during the workout. It seems to only count when the watch display is showing, so it’s way off by the middle of the workout.
bbboward,
Almost 5 stars...but not quite
I love this app and have used it on and off for a while. My only complaint is that you can’t manually adjust your pace and distance for when you have to run on the treadmill. Please make it possible to edit these!

App doesn’t shut down on watch
I used this app on my phone and watch on Friday. It is now Sunday and I cannot get the app to stop running on my watch. I have made sure to hard exit out of the app on both my phone and watch and it is still running and draining my watch battery. I’m deleting this app and getting a different one.

Audio cues don’t work
Bought this app by mistake. Audio cues don’t work unless you phone screen stays on. Kinda a hard if you’re running outdoors.
Dazieonmytoe06,
Look at other apps
There are to many glitches to even make this worth the purchase! App won’t work with my watch seamlessly which defeated the purpose of buying this specific one!
Music Sounds Better With You!,
Great, but a few things I'd like to see incorporated....
First off...A PEDOMETER. How the heck do I know if I'm actually running a 10k? I'm assuming they are using a general figure and average for the amount of time spent running, but each person is different. I'd like to know what, at week 4, my progress is, how far I'm actually going. I don't know how this ultimately can be successful for anyone if they don't know if they are running a full 10k or not.

I'd like more than just a 1/2 way verbalization. Something during each run portion maybe, like "doing great, 30 seconds left". Maybe a verbal 1/3 and 2/3 of the way through. A bit more motivational talk, so to speak during the trainings.

Overall, this is a GREAT app. I'd like to really see a pedometer built in though. I love that I choose my 'just run' playlist and it's all upbeat stuff. I am repeating week 4 because I feel like my body is telling me to. Don't worry if you need to repeat a week or even a day. Just do what your body tells you. I also am using the program 4 days a week and just repeating day 1 of that week for the 4th day. Loving the app. Really motivates me. And where before I'd just quit before I reached my goal of say once around the track, now I run until I hear that voice say it's ok to walk. Great to have it.
NatStewart,
Doesn’t work on Apple Watch
No matter what generation (I have a 1 and 3rd) or type (the 3rd is GPS+cellular). It needs the phone nearby to work.
diri326,
Fun and challenging way to work out!
I recently got back into running after a hip injury kept me sidelined for over 2 years. My doctor said to ease back into running... and this app allows me to do just that. I am doing it a little more slowly (repeating workouts) because of my hip, but I am on Week 7 and can definitely feel a difference in how long I'm able to run! It is definitely a motivator... cannot wait to check off that little box at the end of each workout! A few things that would make it even better...
- you can listen to playlists, but can't randomize songs (or at least I haven't figured out how!)
- there are random check marks in weeks that I haven't tried yet... kind of odd... doesn't affect the way you use the program that day though
- I have to exit out of the program and re-enter it each time I finish a workout in order to press the "End Workout" button. Kind of annoying and unnecessary.
Other than these small gripes, I really enjoy using this app. It also doesn't seem to eat up my battery life, even though I keep it on the entire time and don't let the screen go black. Give it a try... for $3, it's cheaper than a personal trainer/running coach, and extremely effective!
